Leave It To Europe

To take the beauty and simplicity of MOTAB, strip away the debauchery and the booze, and then call it a championship...via Bummer Life. Headed back to Michigan this evening, back to Madison Sunday. Hope to stop by Bells for some tasty tap beers. But really, I'm looking forward to some relaxing, next week is going to be very busy...

You Won't Understand

I have no idea what is going on here either. But I've got a few hundred Flickr pages to go, so hopefully it starts making sense...

Winter

Yeah yeah, I get it. Winter is cool in its own right. But when I woke up to see snow on the ground yesterday, I wasn't stoked. Last winter was long. Too long. I love winter, but I'm kind of glad to be moving away from the midwest...

Pain Shower

Colin Elhart Photo

That there is Lyle Hanson. 2 years ago he was Cat 4 pack fodder with me. Last year he was at the front of the Cat 3 races. This season, he made his pro debut at Cross Vegas, and has worked his way into 4th in the State in the Pro/1/2 category. The Superfans (obviously as displayed by ZR's excitement in the above photo of Lyle's fourth of 13 laps last weekend) love Lyle. State Championships of Cyclocross today in Hales Corners Wis. Hopefully Lyle can "Do It Live" today. Should be a lot of fun. Weather looks cold, but nothing like the rain/snow death march we had last year.

More CETMA?

Yeah, something wrong with that? I found this Vid last night about Lane and his shop. I'll be damned if I can get the whole thing to load, but you should give it a try and see what you can find.
Really cold this morning, but the sun is out and that is good. Also, looks like the wind has died down a bit today. The coffee is strong!

Stuff

The above vid of Lane from CETMA I sniped from Urban Velo today. I've been keeping track of Lane's progress on the cargo bike for the last few months and I gotta say, that guy is in the right business.
Speaking of CETMA, Jeff down at Revolution set me up with the parts I needed to get a cruiser up and running again. This one is a Schwinn that was found abandoned in the neighbor's yard. About the only things original are the frame and the chain guard. I got the CETMA rack on the front, and have been working on getting my pizza rack on that. Lets just say, it works, but it needs work.
Among other things, I've been watching some videos over the past few days. Lately I've seen films Bella and the Kite Runner, bike porn Fast Friday and Seasons, and tonight I'm going to try to watch the Strummer documentary, "The Future Is Unwritten". It had been a while since I was down at 4 Star video in Madison, but went there this morning. Damn, that place really rules. So many movies I want to see. Might be about time to fire up the Flix again.
Rode the cruiser down to the post office, and it worked really well.
Speaking of riding, Jen and I went on the WNR last night, and damn, windy but fun. It had been a while since I did a night time lake loop. Got me thinking about Lazar spraying folks with a stolen fire extinguisher back in the day after leaving the Muskie Lounge...

Embrocation Cycling Journal, it looks to be a rad mag out of New England. They love cross. I love cross.

Check them out, ya'll.

Big In Hong Kong?

I guess so. The PDW T popped up on The HK Fixed blog late last week. I don't know how, but it's pretty rad just the same. It is cold today.

When I'm Thirsty, Let Me Drink

A 40oz hand up? Damn straight kid. Corey didn't even spill a drop, as he is a Team Magnus rider.
Whitewater yesterday, well done to Dave Thomas on a diabolic, yet fun, course. All suffering. The superfans in in full effect. Mexican food afterwards made it a perfect day.
I'm still battling a bit of a cold, but coming around. Another day of relaxing and drinking tea, and I should be even closer to being right side up again.
The new job is rolling along, slowly putting things together. We'll be shoving off in about 2 and 1/2 weeks. My travels were great, got to hang with my old buddy Weston out in Portsmouth, NH. Also got to have some dinner with Jason from Pedros, but missed beers with Petar from Mavic. Petar, soon my man!
Alright, there is some bacon here for me to eat, more later.

Living The Dream

New logo by Creepyfriendly

"If you want to understand the entrepreneur, study the juvenile delinquent. Cause, you know, they're saying 'This sucks, and I am going to do it my own way.'" Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia.

I started on a new venture today. So far so good, but I expect a struggle. More very soon.

Last Day

Like Joe said, "The Future is Unwritten"

Today is my last day at my old gig. I've worked here for 3 years, and I'm leaving on good terms, but it's time for something new.

And I'm excited about that! More very soon on the Powell's plans, I promise.

Your Mind?

Yeah, this is gonna fuckin' blow it.

The Move

Well, there is a fork in the road comin' up dear readers. Jen and I are leaving the midwest soon, and we're gonna be cutting some of the fat from our lives before we go. More about that in the next few days.

I Voted!

Thats right folks. I voted that this image is the definitive image from the 2008 Wisco Cross series!

Well done Djonn for the sick click. As always, well done to Christopher. With a blue ribbon in your hand, everyone is a winner.

Lake Superior

Yesterday morning, Pickens and I hiked down to this beach North of Marquette. We took Elsa with us, she is seen in the above photo waiting for her bacon hand-out. One of my favorite things about visiting the UP is hiking. Something that I really only get to do up there. I did a hike up Hogsback Mountain on Saturday morn with just Elsa and it was so peaceful and warm. The knees hurt a bit on the walk back down, I think either I'm really out of shape, getting old or a bit of both.
The water was REALLY cold, so no we didn't swim, but Elsa went in.

Marquette Police Blotter

Oct. 31st 2008

"8:03 p.m. Large group of kids setting off fireworks behind maintenance building at high school."

High School is a scarey place. And that is why it is stop #1 on the Ghost Ride folks.

Back From God's Country

Yep, pretty much did everything I set out to do:
Sauna, hiking, drinkin', racin', sleepin, and hangin with old friends. I also got to unload a semi truck full of bikes down at Lakeshore bike. Thanks to the Dombrowski's for letting me stash my gear at their place!
More a bit later today.
